Sametime 9.0
Sametime installs much as any other unsupported windows application, from the cxsetup screen, select 'Install unsupported application' from the installation menu. Then navigate to your setup executable to launch the installshield. In my case it's all in one file - sametimeclient31.exe. Once this launches it will walk you through the standard installation dialoges with the only questions asked of you (other than to 'restart your computer' at the end) are the program location and to provide the ip address of the Sametime server. Enter that and you will be on your way. At the end, allow it to 'restart' your computer, and it will take you back to the cxsetup screen, which will now indicate that sametime client 3.1 is now installed in your CXOffice environment.
That I can see, there are no icons created for this application whether on the desktop or in the menus. I use Gnome, KDE might be different. (I should mention that this is RedHat 9, Gnome 2.2.X.) The cx-application for this app is connect.exe and is located wherever you specified during the install, the 'connect' script that is dropped in the bin directory of the cxoffice installation will figure out how to launch it in your fake_windows tree. Type that at a bash screen and it will launch Sametime.
The first thing that will happen after you enter your username and password is that it will attempt to connect to the server using the sametime protocol. This will not work, it will hang there until you either kill it, or reset the protocol, which is what I did. Amazon trail mac download. Go into the preferences menu selection, and in the 'Sametime Connectivity' click on the radio button for http protocol. This will get you connected, and you should now be able to strike up a message session with one of your co-workers.

However, if you utilize multi-screens as most Linux users do whether it be KDE or Gnome, when you switch back to the screen in which Sametime resides, you will be presented with a blank main window. If you had any conversations open, these will still be visible and functioning, but the main sametime window will not allow you to click anywhere to initiate a new conversation, nor will it allow you to see them. Menus are gone as well. In the past, I have simply decided that 'Oh well, this app isn't supported by Codeweavers, so I'll just kill it and be on my merry way.' However since I man now an advocate, I pressed a little further.
Along with the main sametime screen and any conversation windows you might have open, you'll see a little mini-window entitled 'Wine Systray.' You cannot resize this window, and on my system there is but a tiny sliver of a box between the window frame and the title bar. My assumption is that this is where sametime likes to live while it is running on windows, and in fact is where sametime goes if you minimize it. If you position your mouse in that tiny box, you can move to the left until a tooltop pops up under the mouse, inidicating that you are active. If you double click there, the sametime main window will spontaneously resize itself to it's default size, and if you expand it a bit, your menus and people list will come back and it will once again be available for clicking goodness. I have to do this each time I switch back to that screen to initiate additional conversations, but it does seem to work. One other interesting behavior is that the bash console from which you launched connect.exe will spew out debug messages as the program is used. Sonarqube download for mac.
